Former Swift Current Broncos goaltender Joel Hofer had a night to remember on Nov. 4. The Winnipeg native made 23 saves for the St. Louis Blues in a 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks in his National Hockey League debut.

Hofer also assisted on a late goal by Robert Thomas to cap his NHL debut.

The 6’5’’ netminder began the season with the Springfield Thunderbirds in the American Hockey League where he posted a 1.74 goals against average and a .936 save percentage.

Hofer played in 49 regular season games with the Broncos from 2017-19 before being traded to the Portland Winterhawks. He was a fourth round pick by the Blues in the 2018 NHL Draft.
