Heffley headed back to Texas


Colton Heffley’s hockey career will continue with the Allen Americans after the East Coast Hockey League affiliate of the Minnesota Wild announced that they had signed the Swift Current product to return to Texas for the 2020-21 season. 

Heffley joined the Americans last season after his university career with the Dalhousie University Tigers ended. He registered one goal and two penalty minutes in eight games with the Americans.

The 6’4’’, 220-pound forward played four seasons at Dalhousie. His best season came in 2017-18 when he registered 21 points in 26 games. 

Heffley, 26, played parts of six seasons with the Kelowna Rockets before finishing his Western Hockey League career with the Prince Albert Raiders in 2015. He had come up through the Swift Current Minor Hockey System before being drafted by Kelowna in the second round of the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft.

He finished his WHL career with 27 goals, 65 assists, and 365 penalty minutes in 315 regular season games. Heffley added seven points in 39 playoff games.
