The U13 Surge boys basketball team was in Regina this weekend for the BSI Club Championships. The Surge opened Silver Division round robin action with a 65-14 win over the Humboldt Heat. Calum Shea led the way with 22 points, followed by 17 from Gradyn Jackson and nine points from Liam Holliday.
The Swift Current Mariners won four straight games to claim top spot at the eight-team Swift Current Minor Girls U13 tournament over the weekend. The Mariners defeated Gravelbourg 20-12, Shaunavon 20-6, and Leader 25-6. They edged the Swift Current Pirates 7-5 in the championship game.
The Swift Current 11U AA 57’s played four home games over the weekend. Saturday, they lost 5-2 to the Lumsden Cubs and then won the rematch 13-1. Sunday, the 57’s defeated the Holdfast Knights 12-1 and 11-3.
The Swift Current 57’s opened the Western Canadian Baseball League regular season with a 9-5 win over the host Weyburn Beavers on Saturday. Veteran lefty Kenny Jinks got the win as he struck out six while allowing two runs over seven innings. Jaylen Gutierrez got the final six outs to clinch the win.

The SCCHS Colts and Ardens hosted a track and field meet on May 14. Among the standout performers was Swift Current’s Emily McCleary, who placed first in Intermediate Girls 100 Metres, 200 metres, long jump, and triple jump.
