Junior Colts win home gold

The Swift Current Comp. Junior Colts Red won all three games to claim gold at their home tournament over the weekend.

The Junior Colts opened the tournament with a 72-61 win over the Regina Christian Grizzlies. They trailed after one quarter, but scored 20 points in the second frame to lead 35-31 at halftime. 

Briar Moffit led the Colts with 19 points and was named Player of the Game. Quinn Bolton added 11 points.

The Junior Colts added a 65-25 win over the Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings. They held the Vikings to four points in the second quarter to pull away.

Willem Botes, Juan Dungca, Moffit, and Bolton each scored 10 points, while Zachary Dyke was named Player of the Game.

The Colts clinched top spot with a 69-58 win over the 

Lumsden Devils. They trailed 42-40 after three quarters before scoring 29 points in the fourth quarter. 

Dungca scored 17 points and Kean Geronimo added 13. Isaac Siemens was named the Player of the Game.

The Junior Colts will wrap up their season in Balgonie at Greenall High School’s Junior Tournament on Feb. 14-15.
