
The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires won all three games against a pair of Saskatoon opponents this week in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League.
Tuesday, the Legionnaires earned a 6-0 shutout win over the host Saskatoon Blazers. Berney Weston made 28 saves for his second shutout of the season.
Keegan Nash scored twice and Will Kirwan assisted on three goals. Triston Mitchell-Mcelhone, Jackson Fox, Porter Nickason, and Connor Rieger all scored. Ryder Leshures, Hunter Wilm, Sam Kirwan, and Wesley Olson all added assists.
Saturday, the Legionnaires edged the visiting Saskatoon Contacts 2-1 in a shootout when Fox and Rieger both scored in the shootout.
Weston stopped three of four Contacts in the shootout after making 37 saves over 65 minutes of work. Nick Goodwin made 39 saves in a losing cause.
Mitchell-Mcelhone scored a power play goal for the Legionnaires with assists from Will Kirwan and Nash in the second period.
Kayden Stroeder scored an unassisted goal for the Contacts in the third period.
Sunday, the floodgates opened in a 9-3 win over the Contacts. Kasey Gleim led the scoring barrage with two goals and two assists, while Rieger added one goal and three assists. Fox added two goals and one assist. Mason Fauser also scored twice, while Mitchell-Mcelhone and Olson both added a goal and an assist. Will Kirwan registered two assists. Fynn Harasymchuk, Jake Hargrave, Hunter Wilm, and Kai Packet all added single assists. Cade Mitchell earned the win with 27 saves.
The Legionnaires remain third in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League with a 27-10-0 record.
The Legionnaires will host the second-place Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday at 8 p.m. and the Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday at 6:45 p.m.
