Southwest skaters headed for Aboriginal Hockey Nationals

A total of three Southwest players will suit up for Saskatchewan at the 2022 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in May.

Swift Current’s Rhett Dekowny is one of 13 forwards on the male roster. Dekowny finished third on the Warman U18 AAA Wildcats this season with 21 goals and 26 assists in 44 regular season games.

Kyle’s Rylan Williams will also skate for Team Saskatchewan at Nationals. Williams registered nine goals and 12 assists in 44 games with the Battlefords U18 AAA Stars this season.

Also on Team Saskatchewan are Swift Current U18 AAA Legionnaires forward Carter Cormier (Kindersley) and former Legionnaires defenseman Ethan Hilbig (Kindersley).

Kyle’s Kaylee Williams is the lone Southwest skater on the female roster. She led the U15 AA Wildcats with 19 assists and 28 points in 28 regular season games. She added five points in seven regular season games with the U18 AA Wildcats.

The national championship will be held May 7-14 in Membertou, Nova Scotia.
